KD MUTIARA

KD MUTIARA


KD MUTIARA was built locally in Penang by Hong Leong Lurssen Dockyard. Using 9MNG as an international callsign, this 71m length and 13m width ship was commissioned to the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Fleet on 18th December 1977 with the pennant number A 255, is the squadron leader to the 36th Hydrographic Squadron.

Equipped with two Deutz SBA 12M 528 main engine which moves the Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) to reach a maximum speed of 16 knots and is powered by 4 main generators and 1 emergency generator along with bow thruster capability renders her sustainability at sea for a maximum period of 3 months.

She is fitted with the latest state of the art Hydrographic and Oceanographic surveying system and is complemented with 4 surveying boats and 2 working boats. She has an impeccable record of successful hydrographic surveys and has contributed to the production of 50 nautical charts.

Her administration, support and maintenance is under Fleet Operational Commander’s jurisdiction whereas her surveying activities is under the directive of Director General of Hydrography.



KD PERANTAU AT SEA

KD PERANTAU


KD PERANTAU was built locally in Penang by Hong Leong Lurssen Dockyard. Using 9MNF as an international call sign this 67.8m length and 13.3m width ship was commissioned to the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Fleet on 12th October 1998 with the pennant number A 151.

The ship was designed and equipped specifically for hydrographic surveying operation and conducting meteorological and oceanographic observations.  It is also fitted with the latest state of the art navigation and hydrographic surveying system such as Navigation and Command System (NACOS) and Digital Survey and Mapping System 'HYDROMAP'. Other gadgets fitted including Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), Multibeam Echo Sounder, Hull Mounted Acoustic Current Profiler (ADCP) and other  oceonographic and meteorological equipment. The ship also carries two survey launch mainly deployed for surveying in shallow waters.

The ship operational management, support and maintenance is under the command of Fleet Operational Commander (FOC) and tasking of hydrographic surveying activities is under the directive of the Director General of Hydrography.
